Two thousand years ago, when someone such as the Apostle Paul wrote a letter to a local congregation of Christians, a messenger was sent to deliver the letter.
In the culture of the New Testament lands at that time, the primary form of communication was the spoken word. Researchers tell us that only about 5 percent of the population could read and write. So when a messenger had been selected, they would normally learn the contents of the letter by heart and then deliver the letter to the congregation orally as if they were the author of the letter (even though the congregation knew that the messenger was not the author). They would also deliver a written copy of the letter to a leader of the congregation.
This is the way that the early Christian church experienced the material that we now call the New Testament - by a presentation of the spoken word. In keeping with this tradition, down through the veil of years, the Apostle Paul has a word for you. A messenger has been sent to deliver it.
"A Word From Paul" is a 90-minute dramatic presentation of the NIV translation of the Book of Romans, interspersed with periods of corporate praise through song. Using a few simple props and incorporating a powerpoint presentation, "A Word From Paul" attempts to achieve a clarity and understandability that will resonate with listeners, allowing the Word of God to touch lives anew.
